{Wedding Trend} : Bridesmaids

hey guys!
I thought for the wedding trend this week I would talk about the ladies that get things done!
Your bridesmaids!
they are a whole lot more than pretty faces to look good in your wedding pictures.
I put mine to work! Mainly because I had a complete diy wedding, and a whole lot because I had big expectations! So brides! These are the ladies you love the most and they love you back and know that they do want to help you! And also. End up not wearing hideous bridesmaids dresses!
Which is the main reason for this post.
What do they wear?

I have seen a bunch of different ways brides want their bridesmaids to look and I have a couple ideas as well.

These are my lovely ladies. They are my best friends, sisters and (slaves) helpers. I was working on a budget and with girls that all lived in different states I went simple and against my original ideas. We stuck with one dress. Same shoes. Same everything! And..they look great and a little boring, but mainly great!

So. What was my original idea?

I love versatility. I had a range of colors for my color scheme and I was going to have each of them go and buy a dress they liked that was within that color scheme. That way they have a dress that they would want to wear again and feel comfortable in. Try different textures, fabric and patterns. BEST IDEA EVER! But...we didn't get around to that. Obviously. So this is probably my favorite suggestion that I would give to you. It seems like it give pictures more personality, it's not so formal and your girls will feel like themselves and not some cookie cutter, Barbie type.

Another thing that I have seen and love! Are skirts. Get all your girls the same skirt (maybe even the same shirt as well). I am a huge fan of Shabby Apple and also Down East Basics. Their skirts are amazing and then pair it with one of their basic tees and a lace overlay tee! Perfect! Not only for your wedding but they will most definitely wear this outfit again to church, or dinner.

ACCESSORIZE! Try and pick out some bold pieces, like maybe a statement necklace or a colorful bracelet. Let them show you what they have and try and pick out what you like. They don't all have to look uniform, if they have something you love let them wear it! It saves you money and stress! But if you are trying to set a mood for your wedding, like maybe your theme is a vintage one, try a way to work some pearls into their jewelry, or maybe even a headpiece.

Have fun and make sure everybody knows these are your best friends not just photo props! Being a bridesmaid is almost an announcement of where you stand in someone's life. You picked them because they are your closest friends, and they do have a special role in your wedding. But beyond that you have secrets, inside jokes and you have a blast with them! I was just a bridesmaids in my friends wedding and it was so much fun! We had crazy awesome sunglasses for our pictures and were jumping off of stairs and taking goofy pictures with the groomsmen.

Have fun and show your ladies some love!

{Wedding Trend} : Something Blue

Has it really been this long?
I feel horrible for not blogging more. I really thought that I would have more time after our baby got home from her vacation and getting jobs. But I guess that I was wrong…
But. I will be more diligent and I will be posting a lot more fun and interesting stuff.

Alright. So. Something Blue. The easiest, (in my opinion) tradition for the bride, (or groom) to wear on her wedding day. I think that it is the easiest because it can really go anywhere. So here is my list of ways that brides can carry this tradition on in their own wedding.
·        The Garter. This is a more subtle way of getting your blue in there. Speaking about the garter, did you know that some brides wear two and the one that is lower on her thigh gets taken off and flung to the crazy boys and the second one is for the groom. I found that to be interesting and I wish that I had thought about it at my wedding. Maybe you can think about it too.
·        The Bouquet and Boutonniere. You can be subtle with this one as well. Get creative, maybe you add some blue jewels, or buttons to it. Or maybe you add some blue flowers. Maybe the handle is blue. Or maybe you get a custom felt bouquet from the yellow door boutique and we handle it for you!

·        The shoes. This is a good way to get your groom in on it too. I have seen brides use the light aqua converse shoes as their Something Blue. I love making your wedding your own and shoes seem to be a big thing, a lot of brides are opting for more nontraditional kicks. I went with lace oxfords and my husband went with converse. It’s a lot more fun when your put your personalities into your wedding.
·        Cuff Links. For him. This is a way that your future husband to be can be part of this tradition.
·        Ties. For him as well. If aqua or blue is part of your color scheme I say go for the ties as a way to bring the color out.
·        Accessories. You can customize this however you want. Bracelets, hair clips or maybe even a necklace.
·        Embroidery Stitch. This is absolutely my favorite way to think of how you can make this tradition your own. You can stitch on the hems of dress or the back of his tie your wedding date. I have seen this one on Pinterest a lot, and if Pinterest had been big when I was getting married I definitely would have done this to my dress.

These were just a few ideas that I had for you today, but there are endless ways for you to sneak this tradition in there. Remember to make these traditions your own, have fun and be creative!
